Humber Arboretum Signage
I formatted and designed an informative booklet for a mock redesign of the Humber Arboretum signage system. The printed product includes signage design for directional, informational and various other cautions. It also details the ideal material and structural layout.

My task for this project was to re-evaluate the current signage system for Humber Arboretum, and design an up-to-date version. I had to ensure that my design had the essence of Humber Arboretum’s brand identity and the necessary safety and accessibility requirements.

Design Process
Before coming up with my final signage designs, I had to research the existing layout and brand identity of the Humber Arboretum. Using elements from the original design as inspiration, I was able to upgrade the existing signage while preserving its informative messaging and professionalism.
Reflection
Because my previous experience focused on minor signage, connecting my final designs for a project of this magnitude was a new challenge to navigate. I appreciated that the nature of this project required me to see its elements physically, as researching the original signs meant I had to walk the trail to see and assess the signage.
Considering the weather as a factor in the design process meant that also I had to consider the material of the signage. Changing the material of the piece changed its aesthetic properties which is not a factor I have had to previously contemplate. I am now able to include this factor in my design process with this gained experience.
